Sounds like you're using the wrong one. There are many different versions of this cheap tool made; one for each make of car. If you use the incorrect one, or one that has too much play in the small bearing on the front of the crankshaft, you'll probably be a little off on your disk/ shaft alignment. The 2 plastic alignment tools that I have (and have used for years) are a perfect fit in both the bearing and the clutch disk splines; the same as an actual trans input shaft. Mike B.
