Volks, I'm starting to lose a lot of ATF through a corroded power steering line located in the engine compartment: specifically, the lower/rightmost of the two steel lines which run under the airbox and disappear through the firewall -- not sure if that's the send or return line. In the short term (i.e., before I save enough cash for Frank Condelli's replacement line kit), do I have any ready options to replacing the corroded line? Or, should I simply take the power steering belt off until I've got replacement hoses? I don't want the corroded line to blow out when I'm on the highway and run the pump dry.
