Subject: Is there anything better than POR-15 Out there??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Troops: If I decide to jump in with both feet and do some serious rust removal on my two Vanagons, is there a better product for treating the existing rust on the Vanagons than POR-15? My own personal experience with the product has been mixed for sure. I thought it would be the be all end all for redoing the rusty roof on our Chrysler Minivan, but after stripping the rood paint down to bare metal, sanding, painting the POR clear stuff on, scuffing that, and then painting the POR top coat over it, all was well the first year. By the time we junked out the car due to body damage, the POR was crumbling and flaking off at an alarming rate. I used the Marine clean as directed, the metal prep as directed, and still this failure. that's not going to happen with the Vanagons, so I'd like to hear of better products you've used that have withstood the test of time and salty winters. I realize prep is key here, but the best prep can be ruined by inferior product. Inquiring minds wanna know

thanks
