dear all wet n westie

first of all ... jim glad to hear you and your towed vehicle driver were not injured ...

i just did a search of oregon dot (dmv) regs 818.150 regarding towing a vehicle and the regs are so loose that ... any coupling device can be used ... so long as it is rated to withstand no more than the 5k lbs wieght of a vehicle and the vehicle is no more than 10k lbs ... can even be a coupling device longer than 12 feet so long as a red flag is tied mid way ... wow ... i am amazed almost every place i have lived in canada has outlawed strap and/or chain towing due to numerous deaths indeed fixed dolly tongues must also have a safety chain in case of ball hitch or pintle hitch failure ... (not to be confused with tugging out of the ditch or upset)

wow ... i had no idea there were still places that allowed people to tow with out a fixed dolly of some nature .... me i love the sliding deck tow trucks and use my auto club membership for all tow jobs ... yours
