My guess is that your switch has melted. This is one of the reasons people put in the relay kits for the headlights. The factory setup has all the current that runs the lights going through the light switch (which is why that switch gets hot). The installation of relays puts the current thought two relays instead of the switch. Another benefit of the relays is you get more voltage at the headlights so they are somewhat brighter. There is lots of information in the archives on the installation of relays. I bought my kit from Frank Condelli.
