Many years ago my brother taught me a good way to ensure you've packed grease into a CV. Put the grease in on one side only. Keep putting it in until it starts coming out the other side. This way you know you've gotten the grease in completely. Then you can top it off the rest of the way in the side you didn't start on. And it's a mess. Use rubber gloves. I use disposables and I'll go through about 3 pair on a single joint (but then I hate the grease.)
