My mechanic here in town replaced the oxy sensor on my 87 syncro and then gave up. Hydrocarbons are at 4000 he says. I picked it up Friday night and barely made it home. It acts like it's running on about 2 cylinders and no power. It didn't run like this when I dropped it off for a tune up, oil change and smog pretest! But that's another issue. I have an appt. for Wed. at Stephan's Autohaus in Sacramento. I live 60 miles away and hoped to just drive the van there and drop it off. In this condition I cannot. My question is can I unplug the oxy sensor? It ran ok until they put the new one in. Any other ideas? Stephan told me on the phone that it's misfiring, but I didn't get to talk to him after I picked it up and it ran worse. Any ideas to get it running well enough to drive to SAc are appreciated, plus any other ideas about the smog problem. Thanks, Donna |
