I responded to this list as someone else might be able to use these tips.

I installed an ABA OBD1 in my Westy using the Fox brackets. I got the brackets/mounts from a wrecker.

In the Vanagon configuration, I found that the passenger side Fox bracket had to be modified to allow room for the lower coolant hose plastic elbow to clear it. And, IIRC, there is also room that needs to be made for another hose. Also, I removed material from this mount to allow for servicing (removal) of the oil filter and oil cooler.

You can certainly use manual tranny Fox brackets, but consider buying Fox brackets for an automatic tranny. One of the brackets on the manual tranny Fox has extra material (provision for the clutch cable) that needs to be removed. The automatic tranny brackets likely don't have the extra material, and may be cheaper.

Fox automatic brackets *may* be less $, and slightly less work.

Cheers,

Neil.
