To use the Rustoleum paint you have to thin it way down.  There's a
guy who did a really nice job on a Corvair with this approach --
should be easy to find on Google.


As I recall he would thin the paint down to basically a milk or water
consistency, and apply it with a sponge roller.  Needed sanding and a
lot of coats before it looked good.


To make this look good takes a lot of work and time.  It only saves
money if you don't consider the value of your time.
