So I was poking through my engine (87 GL auto) and I think I may  be missing
the strap that is supposed to go from the Head to the Firewall.  There is a
bit of rusted braid left on the bolt on the firewall but nothing  else.

Could someone point me in the right direction to find where it  should have
connected - or point me toward a picture of what it should look  like.







James, go to your FLAPS and  get a 16" battery ground cable with the smallest
diameter terminal ends,  probably 3/8".  Much better than that wimpy braided
cable that VW  provided.  Then install it from the LH head where there are two
6mm bolts,  one holding the water pipe and one for ground cables.  The other
end goes  to any convenient location on the firewall near the fuel pump relay
and ignition  coil.  Make sure the area on the fore wall is cleaned of rust so
that a  good electrical connection is made.  Use liberal amounts of
Dielectric  grease on both connections.
