Subject: Fixed Runaway wayward clock...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Thanks to all who commented on my little runaway. From warp speed, to thingamagizzie, to legit fixit suggestions... I enjoyed all!!!

Fixed little Miss wayward clock today.... hmmm... how do I start....

The dash enclosure for the clock has two little holes for adjusting hours and minutes. Each of those holes has a plastic button which fits into the hole from the back side. That plastic button is attached to a plastic spring loaded arm which is attached to the back of the dash enclosure to keep the button in the hole.

The clock itself has two separate buttons which are spring loaded internally in the clock. In my case the dash enclosure hours plastic button attached to the arm had become misaligned (probably due to the idiot owner pressing too hard with a bent paper clip) and did not "spring back" into its hole in the dash. Thus, it was creating pressure against the clock hour button and kept the hours "running". Run clock Run!!!

I tried to fix without taking the dash apart but was unsuccessful. So, I took the dash apart, removed the screws holding the clock to the dash and realigned the dash button on the arm so it once again fit into the dash hole. Whalah! Fixed.

A tip offered by a number of members on the list was to not press too hard when resetting the clock. I submit that is good advice.

Runaway clock reigned in! Once again happy and no longer running away. Thanks everyone.

Cheers, Rod Critter 85 SubyWestie
