Thanks for info Frank. The new sensor is a Bosch 13913. The coax cable is fine. Pulled back the rubber boot on end and it looks like the day it left the factory. Outside wires safe distance from spade connector. Checked continuity to ECU as per Bentley and all checks out. Continuity to ground and nothing when connected to sensor. Made a good splice to sensor but had to extend the wires using regular but large enough automotive wiring. Does the sensor require special wire? Maybe I will have to address exhaust leak even though I don't think the small leak that I have would impact performance of the sensor that drastically. Gas mileage not all that bad as I'm getting 19 to 20 miles per U.S. gallon even while driving 120 km per hour. Not bad for a regular Vanagon fully loaded for a week of camping. I'm not driving a regular Vanagon. I would still like to fix this sensor issue. Could it be a faulty OXY sensor? Getting 12 volts at OXY heater wiring with engine running. Doesn't matter which white wire goes to the brown and red/yellow wires? Would it even matter if the heater is connected?

Gerry, the exhaust can have no leaks upstream ! The wire you used to make the extension is not critical as far as I know. The heater wires are not side sensitive and do not have anything to do with the info sent to the ECU. Could be a faulty OXY sensor, but you can check this with a good ohm meter. Reading should be + - .5 volts when engine is running. Check your Bentley for exact testing values. I have one of Ken Lewis' OXY sensor readers permanently installed on my dash and another in the shop i use to test suspect OXY sensors.

Are you going to LiMBO's West River Westys, Townsend, VT., July 10 ~ 13 ? Rita & I will be there, leaving here Thursday morning. I could bring my OXY sensor tester if you want.
