In the San Francisco, CA area you can get about $200 if you take the hulk to
the scrapyard. Most tow truck
operators say they are better off towing someone for cash rather than towing
your parts car carcass. That's
not saying they won't do it if you give them a little cash. In other words,
you have to pay to remove the vehicle
unless it's still has intrinsic value. For example, they will probably tow
just about any 911 or 'Vette for free.

I wonder why? There can't be that much scrap steel in a Corvette. 911's must
have less metal than a Vanagon.
