Hi all.

I found a way to install the aftermarket "Hastings" temp gauge sensor into the coolant flange:

Not an optimum location, but it doesn't leak. I think that's as close as it gets without drilling and tapping the head, or buying an inline adapter that connects to the upper rad hose.

Gauge now says 100C. And rad fan came on when idling (though I had to rev engine to get hotter coolant to move)

I think my new coolant pump isn't moving enough coolant. Local offerings provided the pump with the stamped metal impellers. They look rather small to me. Not the same size or design as the plastic OEM.

One reason it was running hot was that I forgot to plug the CMP harness back in! D-oh! Connected it, and took it for a run up the mountain. Runs WAY better with the CMP plug connected!

I'm taking it to my mechanic to check the CMP hall sender and re install the timing belt. He will also use his infrared gun on it. I may still buy one for future use. With any luck, he will time it accurately, and this will help engine temps.

Neil.
