list: i think it would be helpful to have some discusssion of experiences selling vanagons or other autos for scrap - in particular, recent price data. i agree that it is unfortunate in most cases for a vanagon to end up as scrap, but like others on the list, i find that there is little demand for an '84 gl in an ordinary sale. aside from reporting on actual prices paid around the country for scrap, any pointers/anecdotes on where to get the best price, negotiating, dodges and pitfalls, would be useful. it seems that there is a wide variation in prices bid for scrap, and some places require the gas tank to be removed first, and maybe other fluids drained (implying a tow). yes, i have an '84, and it is for sale, and located in mcminnville, or. dan |
