What I'd do is take power from a big source to the relay, and from there to the lights. Do the same with the high beams. Take the power from the current switch to the switch on the high beam relay, and in to the aux light switch. Out from there to the aux light relay.

Something like:

Battery ----------------------|---------| | | | --Current light switch--|--]-High Beam relay----High Beams | | |--------------| |-------| | | |-Aux light switch---Aux light relay---Aux lights

Mmmm... ASCII wiring diagrams

That way they only come on when the light switch is on and the high beams are on. If you don't turn them off at the switch, they'll go off when you drop the brights.

It probably won't catch fire either. Probably.
