Subject: Re: 2.1L into '84 Westy project - Cooling system question

Mike Miller's price question was the very reason I made the decision 11 years ago to stick with my 1.9 cooling system - affordability *at the time*. Eleven years later (or more), I may be forced someday to convert to the 2.1 cooling setup. But my penchant to stash spare parts partly because I live full-time in my Westy and habits (that die hard) from my "vintage VW" restoration days has allowed me to have adequate spares for *MOST* items "1.9" on my Westy.

An example is I picked up a NOS 1.9 Thermostat Housing to stash away a couple of months ago at Bug In 33 swap area for what would be considered an obscene rock bottom price (these usually command $125 or more if found).

To answer Mike's question, I think it's a bit of both, moreso on parts availability. -- Jim Thompson 84 GL 1.9 "Gloria" 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com Jim@Airheadparts.com *********************************** On Wed, Jul 9, 2008 at 1:50 PM, Mike Miller <mwmiller@cwnet.com> wrote:
