Thanks Mark. Good to know.

My original thought was to make good use of the AC compressor that c/w the Jetta 2.0 I installed in my Westy. (assuming compressor works) I would cobble together the remaining Jetta AC parts.

But, I'll bet that the stock Jetta AC wouldn't so a very good job of cooling a larger interior space like a Vanagon. Especially if installed under the rear seat.
