It's never safe for the long-term to use an in-line compression-fitting-type splice on a brake line. Your life depends on it. Compression fittings are not safety-approved for use in brake lines. You may fail a state vehicle inspection, if it's discovered. Also, each join is a potential leak-spot. One, continuous steel line is basically 2 joints, where a steel line with one splice in it, is now 4 joints. Err on the side of safety, and replace brake lines as a complete unit. IMHO, repairs to brake lines are just asking for trouble. Don't do it.
