Looks like the Soviet equivalent of the Syncro Westy. The wikipedia entry for the UAZ 452 (van) and 469 (jeep-thingy) is kinda funny: "although the UAZ has proven to be a reliable 4x4, there have been a few problems with the car's reliability that have slightly hurt its reputation" <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UAZ>

Sounds a lot like the Vanagon... reliable, but with reliability issues...
