Remember, I am just a messenger and have not tried any of this stuff..Hearsay and rumors abound for sure...and I only have a small part of the story. There (i am told) is a site that sells an O2 widget for a $grand or so, that gets rid of the problem..Now THAT makes a relly long payback time.. The HHO setup (i am told) uses 10 to 20 or more Amps when working and that is the rub...Have to push the alternator pretty hard to make the HHO and that takes more HP... But in the long run, it may work once it is dialed in enough to get a consistent gain...It seems YMMV, as the results are all over the place with many variables I am still a lurker and not a do'er ...There are many forums and sites for this stuff and it would take some wading thru to get a clue... Re : "And you cannot use the setup on a car with an O2 sensor, as it will fake it out and screw up the mixture"

Whoa there Hoss............that takes out a LOT of cars !! like 95 % of gasoline cars on the road these days.

And..........they promote it like it's 'the perfect free thing' and 'works on any car' ..... so what's the real story ? If this 'not with an 02 sensor car' .........that takes out all gaoline watercooled vanagons. And leaves only a few non-california air-cooled Vanagons without oxygen sensors, stock. ( which is what you have in Wa on air-cooled vanagons mostly )

but ..........there must be a way around it, or we're not getting the entire story here, but most cars have oxygen sensors nowadays. And thanks Darly for pointing out some realities - like electrode life if current draw is too high. They always make it sound like what I call 'Free Automatic' ...........Mother Earth News is famous for this - they'll have you believeing your car will run for free off just chicken manure......... and the real truth is that there are downsides, challenges, and issues to overcome. Not that I doubt that it can be done, and savings realized. it's just not 'free automatic' is all. scott www.turbovans.com

Fuel prices- it's higher here in Souther Oregon than much of Oregon ( end of the supply chain from Puget Sound is a factor ) . Diesel is at $ 4.85 and the local Biofules place has Biodiesel at $ 5,77 per gallon !
