I second that. 2.1 is far better and will be available for more years. I have sold two complete lots since this thread has started. I have more if needed.

Exactly!

And... all those water hoses are still available.

And... no stupid "H" pipe.

And... an easy to bleed cooling system.

And... no stupid cross over pipe (both over the engine and behind the pulley).

I'd say there are quite a few advantages to changing to the '86 & up cooling system.

Or the solution with the newest parts? The cooling hoses, however numerous, on the 2.1L are 5 years younger.
