Bob, I had this same problem (on the passenger door) a year or so ago. I took the door panel off and found that there was a small cube of foam or rubber down in the bottom of the door that is part of the guide system for the window. this litttle bit of guide appeared to be glued to a part of the rear edge of the frame (the details are a little fuzzy now) that supports the window. I could find the spot just by feeling around and just used some contact cement to glue this little guide piece back in and the problem was solved. If your problem is the same as mine was, I think you'll find the little piece that needs re-attaching laying inside your door waiting for you. Hope I'm right. Good Luck.
