all right. so funny. I would write 'bolted to' if that's what I meant. and yes........it the exhasut system should be bolted to, or 'hanging from' .........poor choice of words really.........more than just the exhaust port studs. 1.9 and 2.1 use completley different systems, the 2.1 being much more nicley designed , with the two brackets that bolt to the aluminum rear mount thing to solidly hold the muffler in two places. I haven't tried it myself, but I gather than the 2.1 part won't fit or work with 1.9 exahaust system parts ? well............I religeiosly don't have anything to do with older air-cooled VW's .........so 'heater boxes' are something that I hope to never see., Although I might work on an air-cooled vanagon upon rare occasion........... and I'm working on a pretty rare 1970 Porsche 914-6 .........a 914 made by Porsche, not VW, and with a 911 6 cyldiner engine. It has heater boxes too.........pretty exotic ones. 3 pipes snaking through each one. I'm so glad waterboxer vanagons have no such crude devices on them ! hope you get your exhaust solidly straigtened out ! scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "Greg Potts" <greg@POTTSFAMILY.CA> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Sunday, July 20, 2008 1:43 PM Subject: Re: Exhausting work....
