Dave, Even though you explain it, I still don't understand it well. It sounds like the assembly on the running track gets disconnected from the track. There must be something broken there, I guess. Maybe you would need to get a whole unit that fits on the track and replace it. I don't remember any adjustment with that, unless the lock's bolts can be moved a little, I think. I know, the front can be adjusted. Zoltan
