Best rear shoes are from the dealer. High friction rating, semi metallic, 6mm thick linings properly riveted in place. Bring $$$. Also get the spring kit from them. Next best is new Jurrid. Most everything else is junk. With the Centric you need to watch for bent and binding handbrake arms and my favorite leading/trailing linings revesed or in the wrong place.

PEP boys near me sells the Mobil 1 syntethic gear lube for $10/quart. >AND:::: Did you know that shoe size really dosen't matter? But of couse >it does. I got 2 different sizes of rear drums brake shoe dimentions. Go >figure! I could see myself beating those rear drums back on with a 5 >pound hammer in scorching 95 degree heat and humidity. No frickin way. >Give me a beer please andI'll sit it out.

Speaking of diameter, the lower shoe mounts are removable and can be shimmed out. 2 to 3 mm shimming will improve contact patch on the drum and allow for most of the shoe to be used. At half life add 1 to 2 more if needed. Also helps to compensate for worn out oversized drums.

I always like to replace the rear cylinders- ATE! > >You got to know how to hold em, know when to fold em! > >PSS. Get 2 bottles of RED LINE WATER WETTER! You have 8 gallons of >antifreeze in that water boxer.

Cooling system barley hold 19 quarts. The is less than 5 gallons. If water wetter really makes the guage go down in anything but extreme temps, you need a radiator. Otherwise the thermostat sets the temp. > >I can garantee that if you use this in your cooling system it will drop the >top engine temp by 15%.

How did you do that calculation? Yes I know it works. The newer Diesel antifreezes also work the same way. It is a surfactant.
