We made replacement curtains (using stock as patterns) about 8 years ago. I found some khaki coloured cotton (weave like denim) at fabric store. It was heavy eanough to block light and it had a pleasing look in van. I didn't have much hope that they would not fade, but after 8 years there is only some slight fading (noticed on folded portions of rear door curtains).

Sorry I can't be more specific on fabric, except it is cotton, cleans well, lightfast and opaque.

I was wondering how many people have successfully used curtains other than stock, or made their own? Have photos of how it looks?

I washed my curtains, and while they are fine an clean, they shrunk slightly in lenght - just enough that they don't stay behind the rubber-band that runs under the windows. (But they are long enough to block the windows.)

thanks,
