The "ancient wisdom" used to be to spray PBBlaster around the inner rim (which is where the binding occurs) and then beat vigorously in between the studs with a ball-pein hammer. I might also give an occasional moderate whack with a mallet at the outer edge to see if it's ready to move. Once it moves at all, it will wiggle off fairly readily. I also clean the inner rim and hub carefully of rust, and use a bit of antiseize to keep the rust at bay.
