People not noticing non-functioining warning lights is much more common than you might think. you ARE, after all, suppossed to turn the key to 'on' first..............see that the waring lights come on, THEN turn the key to 'start' . ( and watch them go out after the engine fires up )

of course everyone just turnst the key straight to 'start' so they don't notice non-working warning lights. I've even see people ignore a stock oil pressure guage on a subaru reading zero. hey, as long as it fires up and goes, it must be ok ! !
