Because with the clips you can yank the wires off when they short together and catch fire.

Now I'm going to preach a little. You're a reasonable guy, but you still have a basic attitude of cutting corners with electrical stuff instead of doing it the right way. You need to ditch this attitude completely or sure as God made little green apples, some day down the road you're going to be responsible for someone or something getting hurt. 'Nuff said?
