are well talking about exahust port gaskets at the heads. Those are hyper common .........and place that sells VW parts as one of their main areas of focus wil have tons of those. Same as a 1600 VW air-cooled Bug I believe. ( gives you and idea of how much a waterboxer is a converted air-cooled design really ) '

it's not good to run with leaks at the exahust parts. - can contribute to buring of the exhaust valve, plus it's just unsafe, whether for carbon monoxide considerations or fire considerations, etc. scott
