Subject: aerator/hose for Westfalia faucet
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I have started to use my sink faucet a little more over the years. I don't like to have things installed and not use them, so instead of taking out my stove/sink/fridge unit I'm trying to make them more usable. I've got a Vitrifrigo fridge on the way to replace the Dometic, and I have an idea for the sink faucet. The problem I have with the sink faucet is that when I wash dishes or my hands, water sprays all over the place. Maybe the pump is slightly more powerful than others; maybe this is just normal. It's a pump from Bus Depot. I had thought of installing a return line to the tank with a valve to vary the pressure, but I don't really want to reduce the flow too much. I know there are other faucets which people have used, but I'm looking at a much lower-prices option. Here's my idea- a six to twelve inch piece of clear tubing (like fish pump stuff) stuck on the end of the faucet, then somehow connected to a fitting that I can put a regular sink aerator on. I'll have the same flow, but without all the splash. I see two slight obstacles- the faucet end is kind of square, right, and the aquarium tubing is round, so maybe I'd have to melt it and form-fit it to the faucet. The other is finding an easy way to connect to the aerator- maybe some kind of hose barb and maybe an adaptor to match up the threads. This way my apparatus would be easily detachable and similar to the hose/sprayer combinations. Any ideas? Ed Duntz in CT
