There are many things to consider regarding two tanks. The Marshal 254 change over regulator is the most correct way to do this. The tanks should never be teed after the regulators unless you also fit regulators. It is common the regulators to fail where they will constantly vent. If the happens to one, the gas will also flow from the other tank and through the vent that failed.

The change over regulator isolates both tanks and allows for automatic change over and you get a new regulator in the deal.

I have aquired a second Westy Propane tank and am considering adding it to my Van. What I am curious about is what is the best way to plumb the line from the tanks to the appliances.

Is it better to join the two tanks so they act as a single large tank? Hook them up with something like a Marshall 254 regulator? Or hook one exclusively to the fridge, and the other to the stove?

Anyone have any opinions on this?

thanks,

Todd '88 Westy
