I first heard about this story when I was visiting my relatives in north west Georgia a few weeks ago. I was surprised that VW was considering a plant in the south and I had lived in Chattanooga for several years myself so I was interested. The funny part is that the day before they made the final choice between the Chattanooga site and a site in Alabama. The local news station played the story as if VW had already chosen the Alabama site and that Chattanooga didn't have a real shot at the plant. I bet they got a lot of hate mail after the announcement the next day that Chattanooga won:-) I can't wait for the plant to go up because now I will finally get to tour a VW plant. We visit this area about twice a year to see family and friends so I won't even have to go out of my way. I think the Routan/Grand Caravan is just the first step, seeing of they can sell a mini-van again in the US. Once the numbers come back you will see a new all VW van come out at their own new plant. Only if the Routan is popular though.

Viva la weak dollar!
