I see many 4th gears that are worn way beyond what they should be for their
mileage.
On and off the gas constantly will wear the angles from the gear teeth and
the slider teeth and make them pop out of gear.
Smooth on and off the throttle is the key...
Like Scott says..a race driver or pro trucker can make those same gear teeth
last 4 times longer than the guy (typically) who has a heavy inconsistent
right foot. Seen brand new racing gers with wearing synchro teeth after 2
yrs of use...not good considering the miles driven.
Easing on the gas will save wear on everything from CV's to fuel.
