hi Don,
did you see my post about what kind of relay you really need,
and that no part of the high beam voltage can should be part of the load
circuit for the new lights ?
Did that make any sense to you.........what I wrote ?
Did you look at the wiring diagram in Bentley first ?'
it's a little confusing........
but look at page 97.56, current track 37 and 38,
the 'headlight, flahser dimmenr switch" ..........that's the stalk on the
steering collumn.........( never can spell that word ) sends power to fuses
5 & 6 to turn on the high beams.
that's where you will get your 'trigger signal' from the high beams.
BUT.............are you following me, that you only want to use that
signal.............say from fuse # 5 to 'turn on' the 5 or 6 terminal relay
I described ealier , and not for the actual load the new big lights will be
carrying ?
are you following me on this ?
I was hoping to see an example of the type of relay I'm talking about in the
wiring diragrams, but I don't.
you are looking to accomplish this :
one, power goes to the new lights ONLY when both high beams and the new
light switch are energized or on.
two...........the load fuction...........the actual high current that powers
the new lights flows through neither the swithc or the high beam circuit.
you can accomplish that with a relay as I described, or two 4 terminal
relays I think, but describing it is confusing so I'll stop here.
But back up the where you were...........
and get back to a base line of it's working stock like it should, for a
first step from here.
