Hello All,
I just had my Tristar tested:
The tech did not test the vapor recovery system and simply noted that it was
too difficult to access the proper hose to test. It seems that it is much
easier to find on most other cars. He wasn't in the mood to jack the truck
up and reach under the wheel well.
If a tech does take the time and effort, then you do indeed need to have
some thing that seals relatively well, but I can think of all kinds of ways
to make that fix before taking it in for testing. ; )
My truck went through a CARB testing lab on it's way into California and
blows air out every time I take off the gas cap. That fact may have helped
the tech decide not to bother with the evap test.
But the bottom line is that they are allowed to bypass this test (it seems).
I was at a "Test Only" station.
Kim
