re "cold-start valve " on a 1.9.
to nitpick you probably mean 'auxiliary air valve' .........
there's no 'cold start' device
The comparable part on a 2.1 is an electronically controlled what I call
'air idle valve'........with it's own dedicated
small electronic control unit mounted behind the right tail light.
I have a vanagon I'm working on that just insists on .stumbling or not
reving out moving the throttle from idle. ...........appears more fuel is
not being injected to go with the increased air flow when the throttle is
opened........
Seems that the engine is taking in the air.........but it really acts like
the matching amount of injector open time is not being commanded by the ecu.
Tried many differerent components, including a whole other injector and
manifold set up. don't think I have an intake leaks either, worked on that a
lot.
at the moment, for a next step, I am down to continuity checking from the
air flow meter to the ECU .........and a few other harness checks......and
the exahsut - cat and muffler look awaful. I doubt they are clogged or
restricted, but gotta be sure. Sometimes, like one out of 6 times it'll rev
like it should. Most of the time acts exactly like it's getting the air but
not the matching amount of fuel.
Thoughts welcome.
