Paul, If you removed the mirror, you will find a small nut under the pivot point which is used to adjust tension. Take care not to overtighten as it can split the bottom of the base. If you have already done that, then a hose clamps around the base is an inexpensive though cosmetically challenged alternative. The best solution IMHO is a powermirror. Those are more robust. Installation is a snap if you don't need the power option. Pmail me if you want more info in this install.
