Paul - In my experience, that crack will affect your smog test. It will pull air in and fake out your O2 sensor. Try to get it fixed before your test. Don't risk failing it and getting put on the Ca "gross polluter" list like I did. If you can find a smog test place that will pre-test your van before doing an official test I would definately do that first. Being on the gross polluter list means more smog test gymnastics to go thru next year. Walter 85 Vanagon
