Yes, I have purchased and installed the 2WD Vanagon fuel tank that The Bus Depot sells. It fit perfectly in my 85 Vanagon Westfalia and has done its job for over two years without problems.

When I was replacing the fuel tank I also replaced the sending unit and its o-ring, cross over pipe, grommets and vent hoses. All this solved my sediment plugging the fuel filter problem (and screeching fuel pump) and the fuel overflow during refueling.

If I had to do the job again the only things I'd do different would be to paint the bare metal tank with POR15 or the like AND replace ailing fuel pump while I had everything else apart.

The formerly abused fuel pump finally went stone dead about a year later along a busy highway with no room for me to install my spare pump. I was that guy that everyone glared at as they crept around my van while the tow truck hooked up. My van has yet to forgive me and out of spite shortly after began dripping its coolant on my shop floor.

I hope to pull the engine next week, reseal the heads and install the new OEM exhaust system in time for camping season to resume (when school starts in September).

Gawd, I love my Westy!

Has anyone bought the tank Bus Depot sells? It's a fair bit cheaper than others I've found, so of course I'm suspicious...
