I particularly like the Yellowstone, Chief Joseph's Pass, Bitteroot Valley MT, Rt 12 (Lewis and Clark Trail) into Idaho, down into McCall Idaho, over to Bend OR, Mirror Lake, Lassen Park, down to Yosemite loop. Then cross over to Nevada on the way back.

If you decide to do something like that, let me know. I can set you up with Vanagon resources and perhaps a place to park in Hamilton MT.
