I suggest you spend several days in Custer State Park, S. Dak. We went from DC to Cali and really didn't find anything interesting until S. Dak except for the dunes in Indiana...but that was only for a day. Around S. Dak you can go to the Black Hillls, Custer SP (hot showers, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument. We spent about 5 days there. Look for gas...we found a lot of 85 octane...our Mz Magic did not like it at all so we had to be careful. For example, the round trip to Wounded Knee we missed the best gas and found that most of the gas on the reservation was 85 so we turned around and missed Wounded Knee...which is only very small monument btw.

Don't miss the Eisenhower tunnel on I-70 through Colorado.
