The deepens mystery. So:

1. Digijet van hates idling, dies shortly after starting. Sometimes has flat spot when accelerating from stop. 2. Shop finds that tailpipe mixture is too lean when engine is dying. Probably could not hook up Lambda sensor when van in motion. 3. Shop finds that when my ECU is swapped with their One Good One (not for sale) and tuned for it, no problem idling, no flat spot when accelerating, no leanness. Proposes theory that my ECU is messed up. 4. I ask for assistance, one replacement (used) ECU arrived Saturday, one due tomorrow. Have not tried plugging either in, will do tomorrow. 5. On test drive today, using my ECU, I confuse dash meter O2 meter with O2 sensor wire and disconnect latter. So during drive, engine runs like absolute c#@p. Lucky I made it downhill 1 mile to meet lovely wife.

David says that Step #5 doesn't make sense. There may be clues here for someone to suggest what's up.
