John,

My recently acquire LT35 has an Audi 2.0 inline-4 with a Solex carb. Said engine also accepts a Weber 34 ICT carb. This is essentially a slightly bigger displacement engine found on the early Rabbits (A1's). It's the same basic motor found in the early Audi 100LS and early 924. Grab one, and bolt a Rabbit carb system if you don't want fuel injection. Heck, I'll be yaking out the one out of my LT as soon as budget allows for an engine swap. Pmail me if you are not in a hurry. BTW, I'm getting 20mpg in an LT panelvan with this engine.

I used to own a T25 Singlecab (Vanagon type) with an inline-4 with a Weber carb. Not sure if it was a stock manifold though. I just recall that it was harder to start on cold mornings compared to the CIS-E inline-4 in my other Vanagons.
