It's true that the rabbit and scirocco had carbs in 75 and 76. Maybe part way into 76 they started switching to CIS. All 77 were CIS in the US. I had a 76 scirocco with the zenith 2bbl. I had a few troubles with it over the 80,000 mile I drove that car, but not much. There was also a fairly rare rabbit in the early 80s that had a carb. It was an effort to get higher mpg than CIS could. I saw one, once. I think it was an 83 or 84.
