  Pumping the brake pedal and then starting the engine does have the
pedal drop, so I'm thinking that the vacuum servo line is okay.  I
will drive it to work today with the line plugged and allow extra
time for stopping to see how the idle vacuum readings shake out.  I
put the old Behr Thompson(german made) Tstat back in and the cooling
issues seem to have gone away for the time being.  FWIW, the Wahler
Tstat(german made also) I bought from Autohausaz seems to be the culprit.

Motor still stumbles, so I think an injector test for volume and
spray pattern is next.   Fuel pressure is still down about5/6#, so
maybe the volume numbers will sniff out a weak pump or dirty crud in
the tank.  Got two weeks before we needthe van to move our daughter to college.
