VW engines that have a high and a low oil pressure switch......... the high pressure one uses reverse logic. it never supplies ground, except when there is suffecient pressure to make it supply ground, which is the reverse logic of 'normal' oil pressure swithes......the type you find in single oil pressure switch engines.........or for the low pressure in two oil pressure switch VW engines. The are grounded, until there is suffecient pressure to open , or break, that ground connection.

make sure your 'normal' low pressure oil switch is the kind that supplies ground when there is no oil pressure. Like test it with a test ligtht. No oil pressure - it's supply ground to the circuit. a test light can be used to find power or ground of course. that, and only that, is what you want taking to your insturment cluster, if it is the kind of vanagon instrument cluster that interfaces with a sinlge ( low ) oil pressure switch only. hope that wasn't confusing. scott www.,turbovans.com
