This oil pan looks like the one used in early Audi 4000 fitments. If it is a diesel PN, then I suppose it is for a diesel or turbo diesel Audi motor. The fins on the bottom of the pan run parallel to the airflow in transverse engine mounting configurations, so this would indicate use in Dasher or Fox or Audi 4K. Seeing as how the Fox is an el-cheapo car, I doubt VAG would fit a cast aluminum pan, so this pan is probably for Audi or Dasher.

Looks like a cast aluminum jetta/golf type oil pan to me, gas or diesel. scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Whittaker" <rogerwhitt1@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Saturday, August 09, 2008 6:24 PM Subject: Re: What kind of diesel oil pan is this?
