While a local tire shop may try to woo your business by making a promise,
no tire manufacturer will warranty tires run flat unless they are offering
a road hazard warranty. Tires don't suddenly go flat unless they fail. I
your case the tire was probably loosing air for some time until it became
a problem. Tire damage from running flat is obvious.
As for tire manufacturers honoring defect warranties, through the Goodyear
dealers, their willingness to replace tires under warranty is simply the
best. I have had Goodyear tires replaced under warranty for ride
disturbances, (balance, out of round), ozone cracking, sidewall failures,
etc. The real dealers can make decisions or call in the claim on the spot.
Most every other manufacturer makes you get a rep to do an inspection or
some how return the tire to them.
I am also curious what Goodyear tire you had on the Adventurewagon. Was it
an appropriate application?
As for a Syncro rotation, When I have to get a new tire, I get two, and
place one front and one opposite rear. This keeps the total axle rpms
matched. With almost 50K miles on a set of tires on FUN BUS, Goodyear
replaced two of them under warranty due to the belts shifting. These are
the Wrangler HP, 215-65/16's.

I had a rear left tire go flat at 65mph on my 90 Syncro AW. I got off
the highway and onto the grass pretty quick, but while still mobile,
the van was very steady. My lesson (and there always seems to be one)
this time was to not deal with a tire shop that doesn't honor the
warranty due to a 'run flat.' The Good Year shop guy told me they
wouldn't honor it since I obviously ran it while flat. I told him I
was off the highway and onto the grass very quickly, but no go. These
tires were at 30% wear, at this time, and, as you may imagine, this
caused me a problem with my 5 tire rotation. Might go to a 6 tire
rotation next time.
Later, I approached the local 'can do anything' tire guy and he said
that since there is no way all drivers can get off the road fast
enough to not ruin a tire, when flat, he never uses the 'run flat'
rule to void a warranty. He has my business when I purchase my next
set.
Gracias,
Miguel
